Position Overview

This role ensures customer vehicles are serviced efficiently, safely, and to manufacturer standards while supporting the reputation and smooth operation of the shop.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on passenger vehicles and light/heavy trucks.
  • Inspect, test, and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical systems (brakes, engines, transmissions, steering, suspension, air conditioning, etc.).
  • Conduct regular preventative maintenance (oil changes, fluid checks, tire rotations, wheel alignments, etc.).
  • Use diagnostic tools, computerized scan equipment, and specialty service tools.
  • Install and balance tires; perform wheel alignments.
  • Complete repair orders with accurate notes on work performed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, environmental standards, and shop policies.
  • Communicate clearly with service advisors and, when necessary, customers about required repairs and recommended maintenance.
  • Stay current with manufacturer technical bulletins, training programs, and industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Automotive Service Technician (310S in Ontario, or equivalent provincial certification)
  • Strong knowledge of automotive systems and diagnostics.
  • Experience with electronic scan tools and modern diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and repair procedures.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy parts, bend, and work in varied positions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect tires for wear, damage, and proper inflation.
  • Mount, dismount, balance, and rotate tires using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Repair punctures and perform other tire-related maintenance.
  • Install and service tire pressure monitoring systems (TPMS).
  • Perform seasonal tire changeovers (summer/winter).
  • Assist with wheel alignments and understand alignment basics.
  • Maintain equipment in safe working condition and keep work areas clean and organized.
  • Follow all safety procedures and shop standards.
  • Provide clear communication to service advisors or customers regarding tire condition and required services.

Qualifications

  • Experience in tire service (shop or dealership) preferred, but training available.
  • Knowledge of tire sizes, load ratings, and speed ratings.
  • Ability to safely operate tire mounting machines, balancers, and hand tools.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50–75 lbs, bend, crouch, and stand for long periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and safety awareness.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
